Danny J. Cunningham, 77 of East Moline, IL passed away at 12:50 pm, Friday, April 19, 2024 at Hope Creek Nursing & Rehab center in East Moline. He was surrounded by his two daughters Kim and Danette, two sons Todd and Brian, and his grandson Parker, and granddaughter Adison. He was born to Coy and Erma (Lee) Cunningham in Damascus, AR on April 21, 1946. Danny was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Coyla Hayes. Danny is survived by his four children; Todd Cunningham of Green Valley, Kim (Kendall) Courtright of Geneseo, Brian Cunningham (Penny) of Pekin, and Danette (Drew) Morgan of Coal Valley. Seven grandchildren Kristen, Parker, Beau, Adison, Emma, Maverick, and Renly. Five great-grandchildren Tessa, Kellan, Breckyn, Tate, and Berkley. Three brothers, Rick, Tim, and David. And one Aunt and multiple cousins. If asked he has been compared to Burt Reynolds, with dashing looks and witty charm, and that all of his kids got their good looks from him. He always had a smile on his face and was ready to poke fun of you to get a smile on yours. If you asked him what he did for a living, he would probably tell you he was a professional fisherman and he was the best at it, because that was his true passion. Just ask his grandchildren, their initiation was going fishing with him at an early age at Pekin Lagoon and once they were good enough they graduated to Powerton Lake. There were many memories made with his children and grandchildren centered around fishing. He has entered many fishing tournaments with his two sons and two grandsons. He was usually in first place, and if he wasnt it was because he got beaten out by one of his sons or grandson. But if asked, he would ignore the question and tell you how big his fish was. His true career was that he worked and retired at ADM. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended services at Hope Creek whenever possible. He also enjoyed watching St Louis Cardinal games, and all western movies. He especially liked John Wayne movies, they were nostalgic for him and held a special meaning in his heart. He was an avid dog lover and he had many in his lifetime to prove it. But, there was one that held a special place in his heart, Boomer who will also be laid to rest with him. One thing for sure, whenever you mention his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren around him that would always bring a smile to his face because he truly loved all of them.
