Wilma L. Schappaugh

Wilma L. Schappaugh, 85, of Pekin, IL passed away at 9:55 PM Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Pekin Manor. Wilma was born on November 15, 1926 in Springlake Township, Tazewell County, Illinois to Louis O. and Jennie (Hundt) Watson. She married Howard C. Schappaugh on May 19, 1946 in Pekin, IL. He died on June 22, 2008. Also preceding in death is her parents and one brother, Donald Watson. Surviving is: one daughter, Wendy (Art) Proehl of Pekin, IL; four grandchildren, Cory (Melissa) Proehl of Colorado Springs, CO, Matt (Kelly)Proehl of Mapleton, IL, Mandy (Don) Bruce of Bartonville, IL and Missy Helm of Highland, IL; six great grandchildren, Autumn and Natalie Bruce, Brianna, Megan and Robbie Helm and Ava Proehl; two brothers, Richard (Rosemary) Watson of Pekin and Dale Watson of Pekin; two sisters, Wanda Clough and Rose Avery of California; one sister-in-law, Georgia Watson of Pekin. Wilma was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and served on its church council and served on many of the churches committees. She was also a member of the Sunday school and the church quilters. Wilma was an avid golfer, playing on the ladies league at both Parkview and Lick Creek Golf courses. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren. As per her request cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be at a later date.
