Wilma H. Bennewitz

Wilma H. Bennewitz, 99, of Pekin, IL passed away at 2:48 AM Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Apostolic Christian Restmor, Inc. in Morton, IL. Wilma was born on March 30, 1918 in Mapleton, IL to James H. and Dora (Grissom) Nash. She married Orville E. Bennewitz on January 11, 1938 in Pekin. He passed away on February 27, 1995. She married August Kief on February 26, 2005. He passed away on April 7, 2011. Also preceding in death are two sons, Gary and Gregory Bennewitz, five brothers and three sisters. Surviving are: one son, Duane (Marie) Bennewitz of Seattle, WA; two daughters, Gloria Bennewitz of Orem, UT and Janet Smith of Cordova, TN; daughter-in-law, Juel Bennewitz of Mackinaw, IL; three grandchildren, Marda (Mike) Kaufman, Bradley (Keli) Bennewitz and Jillian (Thomas) Bolen Miller; three great grandchildren, Haley and Mason Bennewitz and Hunter Kaufman; two step children, Sharon (Dale) Cook and Denny (Marla) Kief; four step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. Wilma was a member of the First Christian Church and Dorcas Circle. She was a secretary for Country Companies, retiring in 1977. Wilma will be remembered for her smile that lit up her face, her beautiful singing and her passion for her family and church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at First Christian Church with Rev. Hank Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens. The arrangements have been entrusted to Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory.
