Willis Oliver Mount, 85, of Pekin, passed away at 10:12 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by his family.
Willis was born on May 14, 1941, in Pekin to Oliver J. and Dorothy Ann (Cole) Mount. He married Diana Moss, on June 6, 1965, in Peoria, and together they shared more than 61 years of marriage filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret Ann Auxier; and four beloved canine companions, Bingo, Bandit, Kimber, and Mindy.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Diana Mount of Pekin; one son, Mark (Christine) Mount of Washington; one daughter, Michelle (Matthew) Eckberg of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Alexis (Jonathan) Neis, Benjamin Oliver Mount, Allison Eckberg, and Tyler Eckberg; one great-granddaughter, Addilyn Neis; and two cherished grand-dog companions, Chewie and Remi.
Willis was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was also a proud member of Delavan Lodge #156 A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite of Peoria. Throughout his life, he took great pride in caring for his home, especially keeping his yard beautifully maintained and meticulously mowed. A devoted automotive enthusiast, Willis enjoyed attending Corvette shows, where he earned several awards for his prized Corvette. He also took great pride in his beloved Chevy pickup truck, which was another of his favorite possessions. He also looked forward to tractor pulls with his son, had a lifelong appreciation for farming, and found joy in the simple pleasures of spending time outdoors.
Earlier in his career, Willis worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in 2002 after 37 years.
Above all, Willis treasured the time he spent with his family. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet kindness, love of the outdoors, and the pride he took in everything he did. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, also at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Eckberg officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery.
