Wesley "Darrell" Cook

Wesley Darrell Cook, 71, of Pekin, IL died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, in his residence. Darrell was born July 26, 1941, in Pekin, the son of Wesley Lee and Veda Thomas Cook.He never married. Surviving are three sisters, Connie Cook Newton of Marion IN, Dorla (and Lee) VanDyke Wilder of Pekin, IL and Sherrie (and Bob) VanDyke Mills of Spring Valley, IL; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna VanDyke Lower. A graduate of Pekin Community High School, he was a veteran of the United States Army. A truck Driver for many years he last worked in the Maintenance Department at the UAW 974 High Rise in Pekin until his retirement. Darrell was an avid reader visiting the Pekin Library weekly. He loved and enjoyed his many nieces and nephews his whole life. Cremation has been accorded. Burial of cremated remains will be at 11:00 AM June 6, 2013 at War Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Pekin. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peoria Rescue Ministries.
