Warren B. Werner, 78, of Denver, CO. passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 in Denver, CO. He was born in Pekin, IL. on November 16, 1938 to Dr. William B. and LaVerne (Bastian) Werner. He was preceded in death by his parents. Warren is survived by one brother, Mark Nels (Amy Newell) Werner of Pekin, IL.;two sisters, Gale (Joe) Yagel of Batavia, IL., and Christine Werner of Denver, CO.; nieces and nephew, Marianne (Peter) Bernardoni of Batavia, IL.; Suzanne (Cristian) Alpizar of San Diego, CA. ;Jens (Evin Garretson) Werner of Edwards, CO.; Kealy Werner of Jackson, WY.; great nieces and nephews, Dr.Brittney (Alex Heinz) Bernardoni of Cincinnati, OH., Brooke Bernardoni and Bennett Bernardoni, all of Batavia, IL.; Cristina Alpizar of San Diego, CA.; Murphy and Thomas Werner of Edwards, CO. Warren was a graduate of PCHS Class in 1956. He graduated from Monmouth College and received his Master's Degree in Industrial Psychology from Northern Illinois University where he worked with the Peace Corps team that helped establish the initial training program for volunteers working in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Warren worked in security for decades at the University of Denver, University of Colorado, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and for all Denver professional teams: The Broncos, The Rockies (though he remained a huge St. Louis Cardinal fan), The Denver Nuggets and his beloved NHL Colorado Avalanche. He enjoyed working for the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver and special events featuring Pope John Paul II,Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and many other memorable personalities. Warren's love of the beautiful Colorado environment and lifestyle translated into his devotion of Denver's arts, museums and emerging retail. He was an ambassador of Denver's good vibes. Visiting Warren in Denver and Colorado always included tours of parks, botanical gardens, historic neighborhoods and mountain vistas. Through his hobby of photography he captured mountain views and beautiful sunsets for years. Warren shared his enthusiasm best with the younger, next generation. He will be greatly missed. Private Celebration of Life Services will be held in Illinois and Colorado at a later date. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, is assisting Warren's family with local arrangements.
