Walter Albert Wood

Walter Albert 'Bert' Wood III of 213 Craig Rd passed away at 7:35 pm Friday, July 18, 2008, at the home of his mother-in-law in Pekin after a brief illness. Bert was born February 3, 1956, in Pekin to Walter Albert Jr. and Ellen Irwin Wood.He married Mary Ellen Thies on October 29, 1976, in Pekin. She survives of Marquette Heights. Also surviving are; his father, Walter A. Jr. of Pleasant Plains, IL; two sons, Walter A. IV and Jennifer Streets Wood of Alexis, IL and Jeremy M. Wood of Pekin; One Brother, Bruce Wood of Pleasant Plains, IL; two sisters, Karen Wood of Peoria and Rebecca Wood of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Walter A. Wood V of Pekin, Gabriel Streets Wood, Gracelyn Streets Wood and Gavin Streets Wood all of Alexis, IL; and his Mother-in-law, Irene Thies of Pekin. He was preceded in death by his Mother Ellen Irwin Wood on March 19, 1987. Bert was the youngest ordained Elder at the Marquette Heights Presbyterian Church. He was a member and past Scout Master of the Marquette Heights Boy Scouts of America Troop 193 and was inducted in to the Order of the Arrow. He was also a member of the Marquette Heights LIONS Club. He was pipefitter and welder for Ivex of Peoria since 1987 last working October 26, 2007.He was a Trustee and Chief Steward of Local 7-662 of the United Steel Workers Union in Peoria. Bert was a member of the Native American Fellowship and the Red Dust Singers. He was a member of the Rock Church in Peoria.
