Walter Thurman

Walter A. Thurman, 83, of Pekin, IL passed away at 5:55 AM Tuesday, October 06, 2015 at his home. Walt was born on January 9, 1932 in Ironton, MO to Walter L. and Estelle (Schreiver). He married Shannon Norton on June 11, 1982 in Peoria, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Melinda Thurman, one step daughter, Tammy Woll, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are: his wife, Shannon of Pekin, one daughter, Kayla Thurman of Pekin; three step daughters, Christy German of Pekin, Kendra (Kevin) Milhime of Green Valley, IL and Lisa (Joey) Foust of South Pekin, IL; five step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. He was the owner / operator of Walt's Sunoco for many years. After he retired he still enjoyed working on old cars. Private graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery with Rev. Judy Doyle officiating. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Miracle Network or OSF St. Francis Hospice.
