Virginia F. Preston

Virginia F. Preston 86, of Pontiac, formerly of Pekin passed away at 4:54 am Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at her home. Virginia was born June 8, 1928 in Tazewell County to Earl and Leona (Garlish) Greathouse.She married MacKenzie Preston January 15, 1950 in Pekin. She is survived by her husband, Mac of Pontiac, one son, Jay (Roberta) Preston of Colfax, IL; four daughters, Dr. Kenzie (Steve Benner) Preston of Clarksville, MD, Heidi (Neal) McNamara of Round Rock, TX, Martha (Steve) McWethy of Dixon, IL, Mary (John) Schwarz of Pontiac; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Lois Waterworth of Mason City, IL; A.F.S. students, Luisa Maria Borger of Brazil and Martha 'Tish' Canseco Bennett of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents Virginia worked at Pekin Community High School cafeteria and Home Decorating in Pekin. She enjoyed sewing.She had foreign exchange students thru A.F.S. Virginia was a great chocolate chip cookie baker. Virginia was a former member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin where she was active in the Mary & Martha Circle and served as a Duchess.She currently is a member of First United Methodist Church in Pontiac. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, July 5, 2014 with visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00am prior to service at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, IL with Rev. Roberta Preston will officiating.Cremation will be accorded after services.Burial of cremated remains will be in Woodrow Cemetery at a later date.
