Viola M. Moehring

Viola Mae Moehring, 85, of Pekin passed away at 11:22 PM Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Viola was born on October 25, 1933 in Secor, IL to Carl and Grace (Sloter) Porth. She married Richard Moehring Sr. in Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Richard T. Moehring Jr. and several brothers and sisters. Survivng are: one son, Kevin (Patrice) Moehring of O'Fallon, MO; two daughters, Vicky (Gerald) Maddox, Caryl Moehring both of Pekin; one daughter-in-law, Chong Moehring of Tremont; one grandson, Sam Moehring of Columbia, MO; three sisters, Elaine (Garry) Colclasure of Roanoke, Hildred Harms of Sunnyland, Norma Perry of California. Viola also leaves behind her loving dog, Dakota (Cody) of 11 years. Viola managed the hot lunch program for Spring Lake School. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was so happy when they finally won the World Series in 2017. She enjoyed watching birds, crocheting, working puzzle books and golfing. She was known for her great cooking skills and loved cooking for her family. The family would like to thank UnityPoint Hospice staff for the outstanding love and care Viola received along her journey. Viola's family will host a gathering to honor Viola's life on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home and Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin. Food and fellowship with be served at 6:00pm after the visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter or Center for Prevention of Abuse.
