Thomas H. Elliot, 74, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:33 AM, Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Carle Health – Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Thomas was born on April 13, 1952, Easter Sunday morning at home in Olney, Illinois to Joseph W. and Evelyn Mae (Wagner) Elliott. He married Lucy Sherman on August 13, 1977 in Pekin, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Allen Ray Elliott; one sister, Wanda Grant.
Surviving is his wife, Lucy of Pekin; two sons, Thomas R. Elliott of Pekin and Matthew S. (Sarah) Elliott of St. Louis, Missouri; and two cherished grandchildren, Walker Thomas Elliott and Caroline Beth Elliott; two brothers, Ed (Vicki) Riley of Olney, IL and John F. Riley, both of Flora, IL; two sisters, Bonnie McGrady of Olney, IL, and Shirley Roland of Noble, IL.
Tom attended East Richland High School in Olney and graduated in 1970. He continued his education at Olney Central College and later graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1974.
Tom dedicated 43 years of service to the Pekin Park District before retiring in 2017. Throughout his career, he was deeply involved in community activities and civic events. He served as chairman of the Marigold Festival Committee and was actively involved with the Winter Wonderland Committee, helping create traditions that brought joy to countless families. In his free time, Tom enjoyed walking, hiking, and watching sports. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, who were the center of his life and greatest source of pride and joy.
More than anything, Tom loved people. His genuine kindness, warm personality, and willingness to serve others made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was a faithful member of First Christian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and played softball and basketball. He was also a member of Pekin Moose Lodge 916.
Tom will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire Pekin community.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Casey, Illinois. Tom’s arrangements have been entrusted to Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory.
