Thomas G. Elgin

Thomas G. Elgin, 63 of Bellevue, IL passed away at 1:15 pm, Monday, January 1, 2018 at his home. He was born March 28, 1954 in Pekin to Thomas G. and Neva Jean (Isenburg) Wubben. He was adopted by Charles E. Elgin Jr in 1960. He married Leatrice Day March 21, 1997 in Peoria. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his birth father, Thomas Wubben and one brother, Daniel Elgin. Thomas is survived by his wife Lisa, one son, Steven Altpeter of Green Bay, Wi.; four sisters, Betty Fitch of Bartonville, Sindy Salazar of Peoria, Sherry Hamilton of Peoria, and Sandy Studert of East Peoria; one brother, Charles (Marty) Elgin III of AL.; three step-sisters, Rhea Weischedel of Vandalia, IL, Marilyn Graffis of Chicago, and Carol (Dean) Schleeter of Heyward, WI, one step brother, Rick (Teresa) French of TN; one nephew Joshua (Kristi) Berardi of Peoria , and one great niece Khalessi Berardi; and many wonderful aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Thomas served 4 years in the United States Army. He was stationed in Erlangen Germany with the 1-35 Armored Division. He worked for Carver Lumber in manufacturing for 18 years, last working in 2015. He was a longtime member of the Radnor Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing and camping, working on cars, and reading. Inurnment will take place at 1:00 pm Friday, January 12, 2018 at Maple Ridge Cemetery, Mapleton, IL. Tom's Celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 13, 2018, with a potluck after the service at Dayspring Native American United Methodist Church, 201 N. Norwood Place, East Peoria, IL. Pastor Danira Parra will officiate. Inurnment will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
