Thomas J. Bremer

Thomas J. Bremer, 78 of Marquette Heights, IL passed away at 4:33 pm, Sunday, May 28, 2023 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born to William R. and Kathryn (King) Bremer on January 17, 1945 in Peoria, IL. He married Shirley Gilmore at St. Johns Church in Peoria on September 3, 1966. Tom was preceded in death by; his parents, one daughter, Kim Bonafede; and one brother, Ed Bremer. He is survived by; his wife Shirley; son, Joseph (Jessica) Bremer of Dunlap; daughter, Tracey (Scott) Ward of MI; son-in-law, Torie Bonafede of Nerstrand, MN; eight grandchildren; and four brothers, Jack (Sherry) Bremer of Dahinda, IL, Bob (Trudee) Bremer of Goodfield, IL, Mike (Sheryl) Bremer of Clariton Hills, IL and Don Bremer of Howard City, MI. Tom was a member of Summit Point Church in East Peoria. He served the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict, last aboard the USS Joseph K. Taussig. He worked for Caterpillar as a machine repairman for 38years, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with friends and family. A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL. Cremation has been accorded. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Toms name to the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team, TACT, c/o VFW, 15665 VFW Rd, Pekin, IL 61554 or a Veterans Facility in your area.
