Sylvia Ann Taylor

Sylvia Ann Taylor, 71, of Altadena, Calif. formerly of Peoria, Ill. died at 10:30 pm Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at her residence in Altadena. She was born June 28, 1941 in New Castle, Ind. to Paul and Betty Miller Anderson.She married Bernard Glen Taylor at New Castle in 1969. Surviving Sylvia are one daughter, Maggie Elizabeth Taylor of Altadena; two sons, Samuel Randolph Taylor of Mahomet, Ill. and Benjamin Alexander Taylor of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, Duncan, Naomi, and Jiane Beach and Cecelia and Fiona Taylor; also her former husband, Bernard Glen Taylor of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Nancy Clark. Sylvia was 1959 graduate of New Castle High School; she then attended Indiana University School of Nursing graduating 1963 as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. She began her nursing career working at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind. and in Redwood City Calif.After returning to Peoria she volunteered at the Peoria South Side Mission and various other charitable originations in Peoria for many years, before moving to back California with her daughter Maggie. Sylvia was a loving mother, grandmother and wife. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Mossville United Methodist Church 1015 East Mossville Rd. Peoria, Ill. 61615 where she attended.The Rev. Bob Herath will officiate.Inurnment of the cremated remains will be New Castel, Ind. at a later date.
