Susan M. Brown

Susan M. Brown, 79 of Pekin, passed away at 12:30 AM, Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Pekin Manor. She was born November 30, 1938 in St. Louis to Benjamin and Marie (Roediger) Metcalf. She Married Robert Brown on November 30, 1999. He preceded her in death in 2003. Susan was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Benjamin 'Frank' Metcalf and one sister, Marjorie Polizzi. She is survived by three sons, Mark Friedrich, Jon (Grace) Friedrich, both of Pekin, and Chris Friedrich of St. Louis; one daughter, Paula Gensel of Pekin; eleven grandchildren, Seth Friedrich, A J Friedrich, Ashley Friedrich, Gracie Friedrich Luviano, Sadie Friedrich, Celia Friedrich, Colton Friedrich, Isabel Friedrich, Nick Gensel, Skylar Hoyle, and Westley (Sara) Hoyle; six great grandchildren, Summer Gensel, Mylee Hoyle, Amelia Hoyle, Maddy Hoyle, Ellie Friedrich, and OakLee Friedrich; one brother, Jack (Jackie) Metcalf of St. Louis; and three sisters, Beverly Alexander of Manito, Diana Biras, Sally (Steve) Rotary both of St. Louis. Susan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. She worked as a bookkeeper at Westinghouse in St. Louis and then at Pekin Housing Authority retiring in 2001. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, sewing, and crosswords. Her greatest joy was her family, and all the activities involved when they got together. A private graveside service will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
