Steven Rakestraw

Steven A. Rakestraw, 60, of Pekin, passed away at 9:51 pm on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at his home. He was born on July 11, 1949 in Pekin, Illinois to Phil and Veda Mahr Rakestraw.He married Sue Dixon on April 22, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives. Also surviving are; three sons, Matt Carpenter, Tim Carpenter and Zac Rakestraw, all of Pekin; one daughter, Kelli Rakestraw of Pekin; one brother, Larry Rakestraw of Galveston, Texas; one sister, Rexanna Blair of Pekin; two grandchildren, Alex Carpenter and Sabrina Carpenter; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charlene and Harry Dixon. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Jim Hiser; and sister-in-law Penny Isbell. He served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1970. He was employed by Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America as an associate.He had previously been employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. Steve was an avid Chicago Cub and Chicago Bears fan. In honor of Steve, the family has requested those attending wear Chicago Cub or Chicago Bears sports attire.
