Stanley Zimmerman

Stanley D. Zimmerman, 93, of Pekin, IL, passed away at 6:50 AM Sunday, August 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Stan was born February 16, 1923 in Freeport, IL to Rev. Harry O. and Irene (Wells) Zimmerman. He married Clara Kuntz on August 4, 1946 at Groveland Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church by his father, Rev. Harry O. Zimmerman. Preceding in death are his parents, one daughter, Marlene Zimmerman and one grandson, Tom Wightman. Surviving are: his wife, Clara of Pekin; four sons, Ron (Lynn) Zimmerman of Tomahawk, WI, Bill (Robin) Zimmerman of Pekin, Rod (Adrienne) Zimmerman of Chicago, IL and Tim (Cindy) Zimmerman of Fairbanks, AK; one daughter, Malinda (Dennis) Wightman of Cincinnati, OH; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine (Bob) Bauer of Mountain Lake, MN. Stan was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. He was a distributor for 7-UP Bottling Company in Peoria for 35 years. He then work for the City of Pekin as a bus driver for 30 years. Stan was a member of Groveland Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church. He was a loyal fan of PCHS sporting events and Bradley basketball for many years. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church with Rev. Edward Newlan officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Zion Evangelical Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to PCHS Booster Club.
