Shirley J. Strode

Shirley J. Strode, 84, of Pekin, IL passed away at 3:42 PM Sunday, December 25, 2022 at Sharon Healthcare Willows in Peoria. Shirley was born on September 16, 1938 in Bismarck, ND to Alfred and Mary (Ashby) Hartman. She married David Strode on May 16, 1956 in Pekin. He passed away on July 20, 1993. Also preceding in death are her parents, two sisters, Betty Rogge and Marlene Short, two brothers, Walt Hartman and Jimmie Hartman. Surviving are: two sons, David (Jan) Strode of Pekin and Todd Strode of Pekin; three grandchildren, Tricia Strode of Pekin, Danielle Strode of Berlin, Germany and Megan (AJ Tea) Rabe of Puyallup, WA; one great grandchild, Rhett Tea; one brother, Ted Hartman of Pekin. Shirley graduated from Eureka College in 1976 with a Bachelors degree in education. She taught kindergarten at Rogers grade school, worked at Easter Seals and was a self-employed, nationally certified licensed massage therapist. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pekin. There will be no services. Cremation will be accorded. Burial will be at a later date in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Shirleys arrangements.
