Shirley Strasser

Shirley Strasser, 87, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:18 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at her sons home in Dunlap surrounded by her family. Shirley was born December 20, 1935 in Peoria, IL to Robert and Emma Marie (Dobbs) Webb. She married Dan Higdon in 1954. She married Donald Strasser in 1989. He passed away in 2000. Also preceding in death are her parents, son-in-law, Kim Young and sister, Donna. Surviving are: three sons, Dennis (Dori) Higdon of Peoria, Dave (Deb) Higdon of South Carolina and Dale (Irlene) Higdon of Dunlap; one daughter, Debra Young of Dunlap; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Shirley had attended Bethel Baptist Church in Pekin. She enjoyed working in her yard, finding four leaf clovers, mystery books, swimming and retail therapy. She was the most loving, kind and giving person, always concerned about others first. She had a great sense of humor and loved dogs. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM 1:00 PM Monday, October 30, 2023. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Steve Rowell officiating. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
