Shirley M. Moore

Shirley M. Moore, 101, of Pekin, IL passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at her home. Shirley was born on May 25, 1921 in Peoria, IL to Robert J. and Ruby Ellen (Barr) Sheridan. She married Alfred Moore on July 4, 1942 in Palmyra, MO. He passed away on November 18, 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, David Crislip. Surviving are: her son, Stephen E. Moore of Pekin; four grandchildren, Todd (Donde) Moore, Kelly Crislip, Amanda (Steve) Pfeiffer and Barbara (James) Barnhill; five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Shirley was a 1939 graduate of Pekin High School and was elected Homecoming Queen. She served as the first President of the Central Illinois Chapter for Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders, 40-year member of the Pekin Union Mission, Commissioner for the Pekin Housing Authority Board. She also earned the Master Gardeners Certificate. She was a member of Bridgeway Community Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading and bird watching. A gathering celebrating Shirleys life will be from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. Cremation has been accorded. Private graveside services will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to TAPS, Pekin Park Foundation or Bridgeway Community Church.
