Sharon K. Modendricker, 76, of Pekin passed away at 8:32 AM Monday, August 14, 2017 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Sharon was born on March 20, 1941 in Pekin to Charles and Kathryn V. (Dittmer) Thornton. She married Gerald Modendricker on October 1, 1966 in Pekin. He passed away on January 24, 1986. Also preceding in death are her parents. Surviving are two daughters, Kerry Modendricker of Bloomington, IL and Teresa Modendricker of Pekin, one sister, Louise Thornton of Phoenix, AZ. Sharon was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where she was active in the hand bell choir, JOY Circle and the Sewing Guild. Sewing was something Sharon really enjoyed.She volunteered for many years at the Tazewell County 4-H Fair and was a judge for their sewing projects.Sharon graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1959.She really enjoyed going to high school football and basketball games. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. Paul United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Brian Byrne officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, August 18 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin and from 9:15 AM - 9:45 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or the American Cancer Society.
