Scott Alan Hilst, 67 of Pekin, passed away at 7:33 am, Monday, July 28, 2025 peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones after fighting MS for 45 years and cancer for 13. Scott set out to prove everyone wrong when he was diagnosed and never gave in.
Born on November 11, 1957, in Pekin to Duane and Phyllis (Black) Hilst, Scott lived a life full of passion and dedication. On November 26, 1989, he married Joyce Neulinger in Manito, IL, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Duane.
Scott is survived by his beloved mother, Phyllis; his cherished wife, Joyce; his son, David (Tonya) Neulinger of Pekin; his treasured granddaughter, Ashlynn (Nathan) Wagle; his adored great-granddaughter, Bennett Wagle; his brother, Steve (Vicki) Hilst of Pekin; his sister, Christie (Steve) Schoenbein of Pekin and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A passionate entrepreneur, Scott and his family owned HyPride Campers for over 35 years, retiring in 2006. He founded the business with his father, inspired by his love for camping and motorcycle riding. Scott’s enthusiasm for adventure led him to explore the Midwest on his four-wheeler, creating countless memories. He lived by the philosophy that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life—a belief he embodied fully. Above all, Scott cherished his family, holding a particularly special bond with his granddaughter, Ashlynn.
