Samuel H. Wilkinson, 81 of Gridley, IL formerly of Deer Creek, IL passed away at 1:39 pm, Monday, August 4, 2014 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL. Sam was born January 11, 1933 in Pekin to Jesse and Florence (Frampton) Wilkinson. He married Dorothy 'Capie' Guile November 22, 1954 in Tremont.She passed away September 24, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Samuel and David; four brothers, Royal, Chester, Barney and Harland; and three sisters, Caroline, Margaret and Jeanette. He is survived by one son, Scott (Kammy) Wilkinson of Highland, MI; six daughters, Julie (Monty) Squier of Augusta, GA, Rebecca (John) Barnes of Gridley, IL, Nancy Wilkinson of Springfield, IL, Robbin (Norman) Tess of Waterford, MI, Jeanne (Eric) Brown of Pontiac, MI and Linda (Joe) Adams of Carrollton, GA; exceeding over 70 grandchildren; two brothers, Lee (Betty) Wilkinson of Bunker Hill, ID and Roscoe Wilkinson of Peoria, IL and brother in law Jim Hardy, of Edwards, IL. Sam worked in many areas at Corn Products-Pekin Energy retiring in 1995 last working in control room. He was a member of Kairos Bible Fellowship in Washington, IL He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening but the true joys of his life were his wife, children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, August 8, 2014 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with Pastor Don Whitman officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with Military Honors from the United States Army and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
