Salome "Sally" Martin

Salome Sally Martin, 89, of Pekin, IL passed away at 9:15 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Pekin Hospital.Sally was born March 7, 1927 in Pana, IL to John and Hettie (Bland) Kerr. She married June Martin in August 21, 1950 in Pekin. He died on July 11, 2002. Also preceding in death are her parents and daughter, Nancy, five brothers and one sister. Surviving are:one son, Joe (Kim) Martin of Morris, IL; three grandchildren, Joni (Chuck) Barth of Pekin, Joseph (Sarah) Martin and Cecily (Dave) Meadows both of Morris, IL; eight great grandchildren, Nicholas, Allison and Madelline Barth all of Pekin, Leah and Joey Martin, Preston, Harlow and Vincent Meadows all of Morris, IL. Sally began her nursing career at Pekin Hospital in the Pediatric department. She then worked for Pekin Community High School as a nurse at West Campus. While working at the high school she earned her Bachelor's Degree in nursing from Western Illinois University. She enjoyed the slots at the Paradise Casino and trips to Las Vegas with her husband. . She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime volunteer at the Marine Corp League in Pekin. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Randy Justus officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM - 1:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Pekin.Memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Boys & Girls Club or The Marine Corp League.
