Ruth Allen

Mary Ruth Allen, 89, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:05 PM Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Generations at Riverview in East Peoria, IL. Ruth was born on October 21, 1931 in Shirley, IL to Lester and Mollie (Lovin) Gilliam. She married James A. Allen on November 15, 1952. He passed away on July 6, 1998. Also preceding in death are her parents, two brothers and one sister. Surviving is: one son, David (Cynthia) Allen of Pekin; one daughter, Linda (Terry) Freeman of Pekin; four grandchildren, Jamie Freeman, Jessica (Justin) Simmons, Christopher Allen and Collin Allen; one great grandson, Jett and one step great grandson, Jace. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pekin. She was a volunteer at Pekin Hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading and pinnacle club. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Monday, February 1, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. Rev. James McClary will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM 1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association or TAPS.
