Rose M. Ashbaker

Rose M. Ashbaker, 85 of Pekin passed away at 3:27 pm, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Pekin Manor surrounded by family. She was born to William & Catherine (Green) Culp in Hillsboro, IL on March 5, 1938. She married Harold Ashbaker in Woodson, IL on October 5, 1958. She and Harold just celebrated 65 years of marriage with a celebration held October 7, 2023. They truly treasured each day they were given together. Rose was preceded in death by; her parents, one son, James; one sister Grace Lane; and one brother, James Culp. She is survived by; her husband Harold; one son, Bill (Mary) Ashbaker of Pekin; four grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Ashbaker, Michael (Ellen) Ashbaker, Cathryn (Sam) Smith and Amy (Paul) Kissner; and five great grandchildren, Mirabelle Ashbaker, Sabrina Ashbaker, Addelyn Ashbaker, Cassidy Smith, and Lily Jones. Rose was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin. She was a Veteran of the United States Navy. She worked for Pekin Central Kitchen making food for the school cafeterias for many years. Rose was a Cub Scout Leader, and a member of the Caterpillar Retiree Camping Club. She enjoyed camping and traveling. Her funeral service will be at 1:30 pm, Friday, November 10, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr in Pekin with Pastor Ken Seest officiating. A visitation will be immediately prior from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with military honors provided by the United States Navy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist School or Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
