Ronald Franklin Wilson

Ronald F. Wilson, 72 of Pekin passed away at 6:18 pm, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at UnityPoint Health - Pekin. He was born in Pekin to Lidge & Dorothy (Helton) Wilson on May 7, 1950. He married Marilyn McFarden on January 10, 1970 at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, IL. She survives. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Lorraine Hogue. He is survived by; two daughters, Andrea (Dennis) Short, and Julia McKinley both of Pekin; four grandchildren, Jed McKinley, Logen Howell, Cade McKinley and Amara Howell; three great-grandchildren, Declan, Ryder, and Jedidiah McKinley; special friend, Theresa Montgomery; and two sisters, Deborah (Fran) Connelly of Des Plaines, IL and Charissa (John) Buehler of Brimfield, IL. Ron was a 1968 graduate of Pekin Community High School. He served in the United States Army. He was deployed to Vietnam from 1969-1970 where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Ron was a member of Local 34 working as an electrician for over 45 years retiring in 2010. He was a member of Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur. Ron loved to travel, ride his motorcycle and enjoyed listening to music, especially George Jones. He was gifted with tools and there was nothing he couldnt fix. He was always helping other people. His greatest treasure was his family, especially time spent with his grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 pm, Monday, February 27, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL. with Rev. Jan Johnson officiating. A visitation will be immediately prior from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Monday, February 27, 2023 also at the funeral home.
