Ronald D. Swiger

Ronald D. Swiger, 64 of Pekin, passed away at his home at 10:30 pm, Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Ron was born July 28, 1952 to Fredrick and Elma (Robinson) Swiger in Peoria. He married Teresa Keller, September 11, 1999 in Chillicothe. She survives. Preceding in death are his parents, and one sister Shirley. He is survived by his wife Teresa, one son, Ronald (Jannelle) Swiger Jr. of Eureka; two daughters Amy (Matt) Schmidgall of Bartonville, and Rebecca (Jerry Webb) Swiger of Peoria; two step sons, Glenn (Jenny) Wagner of Metamora, and Christopher Wagner of Robertsdale, AL; one step daughter, Lisa (Alex) DeCouto of Pekin; 9 grandchildren, Stephen, Dakota, Anakin, Kaelyn, Jack, Madyson, Kaison, Michele, and Oliver; one great granddaughter, Sophia; three brothers, Sam (Shirley) Swiger of Springfield, MO, Robert (Bernice) Swiger of Mt. Olive, NC, and Paul (Dannie) Swiger of Sun City West, Arizona; two sisters, Betty Reames of Washington, and Marilynn (Glen) Martin of Morton. Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the Cubs and the Bears. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and family. He worked as a truck driver for PraxAir Distribution for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2014. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home and Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, with Sara and Bill Appleyard-Pekich officiating. In honor of Ron, and his love of the Chicago Cubs, Cub attire is encouraged for those attending. There will be no visitation.
