Rodger B. Hoover, 70, of Pekin, IL passed away at 2:30 PM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Rodger was born in Peoria on September 2, 1941 to Harold and Dorothy (Shreves) Hoover.He married Penny Reaktenwalt on August 22, 1969 in Pekin. Along with wife Penny, Rodger is survived by: two sons, Dane and Trent (Jamie) Hoover of Pekin; daughter, Leia Stewart of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren; one great grandchild;sister, Deanna (Vincent) Oltman of Pekin; brother-in-law, Don (Karen) Reaktenwaltof Bartonville, and many nieces and nephews. Rodger was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Richard Hoover. Rodger was a graduate of Illinois State University.He also served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964.He was a former teacher and also retired from Laborer's Local 231. Rodger was a past member /official with the USA Boxing Association and a former Sunday-school teacher at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin. He enjoyed officiating Silver and Golden Glove Boxing. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin.Pastors Mark Miller and Glenn Niemann will officiate.Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military honors by the United States Air Force. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. John's Lutheran Church or Guide Dogs for the Blind. Online condolences may be made at www.hendersonfuneralcare.com.
