Robert Lee Vance 82, of Forest City passed away at 12:15 am Friday, February 15, 2013 at Timbercreek Rehab and Healthcare in Pekin. Bob was born on November 4, 1930 in Fulton County, Illinois to Earnest and Florence (Lober) Vance.He married Wilma Schlenker on March 4, 1956 in Canton, IL. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; one son, Rob (Robin) Connell of Pekin; two daughters, Teresa (John) Reynolds of St. Charles, MO, Laurie (Jeff Turner)Morris of Sommersville, MO; one grandson, Nicholas Reynolds of St. Charles, MO; three great grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, and Rylie Connell. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, John Reynolds IV. Bob was a Pekin Firefighter retiring in 1980 after 25 years of service.He dedicated his whole life to public service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time outdoors. Even after he no longer could hunt or fish, he loved driving to Spring Lake to watch the wildlife.Bob was a member of the William Schaefer Post #44 American Legion, Ducks Unlimited and former member of Pekin Moose Lodge #916.He was the former owner of Pintail Duck Club. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Havana. Bob was a Korean War Veteran of the United States Army. Cremation was accorded. There will be no services. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date.Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin is assisting Bob's family with arrangements.
