Robert D. Quarello

Robert Duane 'Bob' Quarello, 55, of Pekin died at 8:40 am Monday, June 28, 2010 at his home. Bob was born on November 7, 1954 in Pekin to James and Vera (Gardner) Quarello. He married Jane Williams on May 6, 1989 in Pekin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are: his wife, Jane of Pekin; one daughter, Meredith Quarello of Pekin; two brothers, Denny and Terry Quarello both of Pekin; three sisters, Diana (Mark) Thorne, Debbie (Gary) Sathoff and Anna Lee all of Pekin; father-in-law, Bob Williams of Pekin; sister-in-law, Mary (Gary) Helferich of Washington, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Bob was employed as the Dean and School Resource Officer for Pleasant Valley School District # 62 in Peoria. He also was currently a Sergeant with Canton Park District Police, a patrolman with the Miner Police Dept. and a 911 dispatcher with TAZCOM. He has been involved with law enforcement since 1972 as a police officer, prior to that he was a law enforcement explorer and a dispatcher for the Pekin Fire Department. He was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Heartland, Illinois and US D.A.R.E. Officers Association, Tazewell County 911 Board since its inception, Tazewell County, Illinois and National Chiefs of Police,Illinois Law Enforcement Exploring and chairman 1996-1998, National Association of School Resource Officers, Greater Peoria Area Crime Stoppers Board of Directors, Park Law Enforcement Association and founding member of the Hot Foot Teddy (Smokey Bear) Collectors Association formed to promote and preserve Smokey Bear's past and to protect his future. He played Santa Claus for many years.
