Robert Walter Olson

Robert "Bob" Walter Olson, 72, of Eureka, formerly of Pekin, passed away at 10:58 pm, Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka., IL He was born on October 27, 1942, in Martinsburg, WV to Harold and VirginiaOlson.He married Christy Litton at Bishop Hill, IL February 14, 1970. Bob is survived by his wife, Christy of Eureka, two sons, Mike (Amy) Olson of Granville, IL and Scott (Carol) Olson of Austin TX; two sisters, Cheryl(Dennis) Cutler of Chillicothe, IL and Nancy (Dave) Hepnerof LaSalle, IL;6 grandchildren, Taryne Gardner, Lucas, Chad, Payton, Liam, and Ewan Olson; and two great grandchildren, Taleigh and Tymarcus Graham. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Tara Renee Olson on March 21, 2011. Bob was a 1960 graduate of Galva High School. He was also a Navy veteran stationed in England during the Vietnam War.After his military discharge Bob began his 35 years of employment with Caterpillar Inc. retiring in 2005. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pekin. He earned his Eagle Scout rank during high school.As an adult Bob continued to be very active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.He was also a former member of Mohammed Temple Shine of Peoria and the Lions Club of Pekin. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, June 15, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Sunday June 14, 2015, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. Graveside services will be held at 2:15pm Monday at Galva Cemetery.Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy at the graveside.
