Robert W. Mott Jr.

Robert W. Mott Jr. 73, of Pekin, IL. Passed away at 12:08 pm Saturday March 8th, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family at OSF Richard L. Owen's Hospice Home in Peoria. Bob was born on December 26th, 1951 in Pekin to Robert W. and Lois (Cahal) Mott Sr. He married Lola Wiker on April 1st 1972. The mother of his children. Later he married the love of his life Kathleen Riddle on September 12th 1993 at Brock Lake in Mackinaw Il. After 30 years of marriage, she passed away on July 16th 2023. Also preceding him in death are his parents and one sister Cheryl Eitenmiller. Surviving are: one son Josh Mott of Pekin; one daughter, Holly (John Williams) Sanford of Pekin; two grandchildren, Brady Sanford and Nadiyah Williams; two sisters, Lisa (Gary) Hicks of Ava, MO and Sharon Reinberg of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the United States Army stationed in Korea on the DMZ as a U.S. Army paratrooper 82nd Airborne Division. Bob worked at caterpillar for 35 years and was a proud UAW local 974 member serving several years as a union steward and spent many long, cold nights hugging a burn barrel on the picket line during several caterpillar strikes. During the Caterpillar strikes he worked as a brick mason/foreman for JJ Braker and sons for 11 years. Bob was also a member of William Schafer Post 44 American Legion, Eagle lodge Arie #1869, Paul Towne Memorial Amvets Post 169, and Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt, and the NFL He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and especially spoiling his grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 12:00 PM Saturday March 15th, 2025 at Glendale Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. A celebration of life will follow services at the American Legion Post 44, 718 Court St. Pekin, IL. Memorials may be made to the American cancer society.
