Robert D. Morrison

Robert D. 'Bob' Morrison, 77 of Pekin, passed away at 10:43 pm, Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home. Bob was born September 2, 1939 in Pekin to Wilton and Clara (Hermes) Morrison.He married Ellen Lawson September 8, 1963 in Pekin. Bob is survived by his wife, Ellen; two sons, Jeffrey (Polly) Morrison of Monticello, IL, Mark (Monica) Morrison of Madison, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Sydney, Sophie, Sari, and Spencer Morrison; one sister, Marjorie Wilson of Florida; two brothers, Alan (Beth) Morrison of Pekin and James (Desie) Morrison of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Pearcy. Bob was a manager with Witco Chemical in Mapleton retiring July 1, 1998 after 36 years of service. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin where he was an usher, and served on several committees including the finance committee. Bob volunteered at Pekin Hospital taking newspapers to patients and helping them when they were being discharged. Bob was a diehard St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed going to Cardinal games with his sons and grandson. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. Bob was a veteran with United States Airforce.He also was a member of the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, February 13, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, with Rev. Daniel Bishop officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
