Robert L Harvey

Robert L. Harvey, 84, of Peoria and formerly of Pekin passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Belwood Nursing Home hospice wing. Bob was born September 11, 1924 in Peoria, IL to Clarence F. and Elsie Inez (Condit) Harvey. He married Shirley J. Kaufman on March 16, 1946. He later married Barb Hodges. She preceded him in death in 2007. Surviving are: two sons, Robert (Nancy) Harvey of Mapleton, IL and Richard (Debora) Harvey of Marquette Heights, IL; one daughter, Jeanne (Jeff) Springer of Gainesville, GA; one step-daughter, Beth (Duane) Johnson of Havana, IL; one brother, John 'Jack' L. (Dollie) Harvey of Yuba City, CA; one half brother, Donald (CeeCee) Icenogle of Chillicothe, IL; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Bob was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was stationed on a mine sweeper. He earned his master electricians license in Dade County, FL. He was a 60 year member of IBEW #34, also working at Pabst and Coca Cola. He was on the East Peoria Fire Department as a volunteer fireman and also on the Marquette Heights Fire Department as volunteer fireman. He was a trained paramedic and CPR instructor. Bob also helped start the first Little League baseball program in East Peoria in the 1950's. Bob was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He loved traveling, camping, bowling, golf and fishing.
