Robert "Bobby" D. Cunningham

Robert D. "Bobby" Cunningham, 88 of Washington, formerly of Pekin passed away at 9:15 pm, Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Washington Senior Living. He was born in Pekin, IL to Robert Eugene and Ora Irene (Edwards) Cunningham on December 28, 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and sister- in- law, Eugene and Joanne Cunningham. He is survived by his nephew, Robert (Buck) Cunningham, two nieces, Vicki (Richard) Shanklin, Shelly Cunningham, and two great nephews, Jabin and Coltin (Megan) Cunningham. Throughout his life, Bobby enjoyed many relatives including first cousins who remained close to him. Bobby worked at the community workshop for TCRC. He attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin. He enjoyed riding bikes, horses, taking walks, bowling, Special Olympic events, and dances held by Pekin Park District. He was a fervent Chicago Cub Fan. Upon retirement, he attended Miller Senior Center where he enjoyed meals with friends, and social activities such as dancing, darts, and shuffleboard. With aging, he moved to John Evans Supportive Living where he was cared for with love and support. As age progressed, this care for him continued at Washington Senior Living. Bobby loved spending time with family and friends. He was a joyful person who loved everyone and everything. He was viewed in the world as a person with a disability, but to those who loved him, he gave so much. In memory of him, try to live one day with only positive thoughts, kindness, consideration, and joy in everything you do. Then you are having an "Uncle Bobby kind of day". That is how he lived his life, and we can only hope to learn from his example. He was a joy and a blessing to everyone who knew him. A graveside service will be held at 11:45 A.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with Rev. Judy Doyle officiating.
