Robert "Bob" G. Cordts

Robert (Bob) G. Cordts, 84, of Pekin, IL passed away at 11:34 PM, Friday, August 16, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Bob was born on November 7, 1939 in Pekin to Glenn F. and Blanche (Knollhoff) Cordts. He was married for 63 years to Carolyn Beasley, his lifelong love. They were wed on August 19, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Hahn. Bob is also survived by; three sons, Bryan (Shelly) Cordts of Lantana, TX, Bradley (Kim) Cordts of Pekin, and Brandon (Dawn) Cordts of Cottage Grove, MN; eight grandchildren, Caleb (Rachel Brackensick) Cordts, Cameron (Molly) Cordts, Madison (Jacob) Norton, Conner (Ellie) Cordts, Braeden (McKay) Cordts, Gabriel (Celeste) Cordts, Baylor Cordts, and Brycen Cordts; and eight great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and one brother, Kenley Cordts of Tomahawk, WI; one sister-in-law, Jeanine Beasley Meyers of Pekin, IL. He was a 1957 graduate of Pekin Community High School and was a veteran of the Air National Guard. Bob was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin where he had served as a trustee. He was a graduate of the Sheet Metal Apprentice Program, and a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #1. He worked for Central Heating and Cooling from 1959 to 1975 in Peoria. He and Carolyn started Cordts Heating and Air Conditioning in 1975 and was owner operator until his retirement in 2004. Bob was a founding member of the Pekin Stars and a former member of the Tazewell Hockey Association. He coached youth and high school hockey and also coached little league baseball and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Dart Ball Team. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was a master at fixing, building and woodworking. Bob built treasured gifts for his grandchildren as they married. He loved watching his boys and then his grandchildren playing various sports. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bobs Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin with Rev. Mark Drews officiating. A visitation will be held the night prior, Wednesday, August 21 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL. There will be an additional visitation at the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Illinois Cancer Care.
