Robert “Corky” Buchanan, 82, of Lacon, IL passed away at 1:07 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 3, 1943 in Pekin, IL to Evert and Doris (Irwin) Buchanan. He married Zoe Baker on July 7, 1989 in Pekin and together they shared many cherished years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step son-in-law, Ron Doty.

He is survived by: his wife, Zoe of Lacon; two daughters, Stevie (Mel) Anderson of Pekin, Krysty (Eric) Bishop of Peoria; four step children, Robert (Carol) Farlin of Delavan, Michael (Cornise) Farlin of Laurel, MS, Kim (Denise Durrell) Farlin, of Pekin, Sally Doty of Manito; two grandchildren, Ian Pshebelski and Ann Marie (Jacob) Potts; one sister, Karen (Brad) McCain of Pekin; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Penny Potts; six step-grandchildren and ten step great-grandchildren.

Corky proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion. He worked for many years as a pipe fitter at Keystone before retiring. Known for his strong work ethic and quiet kindness, Corky found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A Memorial Service honoring Corky’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Michael Farlin officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery with military honors provided by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team and the United States Navy.
