Robert H. 'Bob' Becker, 91 of Pekin, passed away at 11:00 pm, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. Bob lived on his own until two weeks ago at the UAW Senior Center in Pekin. He was born February 12, 1926 to Phillip and Helena (Broz) Becker in Aberdeen, SD. He married Mary Neulinger-Kalhammer on April 24, 1954 in Pekin. She passed away November 1, 2016. Preceding him in death are; his parents, his wife Mary, one brother, Elmer Becker, and four sisters, Ruth Schwartz, Adelene Traphagen, Louise Logan, and Betty Jean Smith. Bob is survived by; two daughters, Nancy (Ray) Morris of Peoria, and Marcia (Rick) Ewing of Pekin; three grandchildren, Beth (Dr. Tanner) Miller of Pekin, Rick (Kelly Cantrell) Ewing II of El Segundo, CA, Shelly (Lawrence)Thomas of Wylie, TX; three great grandchildren, Remi Becker Miller and Wakely Rollins Miller, both of Pekin and Olivia Shae Thomas of Wylie, TX; two sisters, Phyllis Vaughn of Aberdeen, SD and Margaret Morez of Santa Barbara, CA, and one brother-in-law, Paul Logan of Mitchell, SD. He served in the Pacific Fleet with a P.T. Squadron of ten boats in the US Navy. Bob was employed by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad for 38 years, first as a Telegraph Clerk and then Regional Service Manager in Sales and Marketing, retiring in 1985. Bob was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, were he was an RCIA team leader for 12 years, hung the seasonal banners for 10 years, was an usher and was an adult server at funerals. Sir Knight Robert Becker was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Assembly 210 and a 3rd degree member of Council 3507. He was a past Commander of VFW Post 1232, past President of the Pekin Transportation Club and a life member of the Peoria Transportation Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 303 S. 7th St. Pekin, with Father Michael Andrejek as celebrant. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, November 13 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive, Pekin. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will have a chalice service for Bob starting at 4:00 pm with a Rosary Prayer Service immediately following prior to the visitation. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Pekin. Military honors will be provided by United States Navy and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Memorials may be made to the Pekin Knights of Columbus. Bob's family would like to thank Harbor Light Hospice for the care they provided him.
