Richard D. Munson

Richard D. Munson, 72, of North Pekin, IL passed away at 12:32 AM Saturday, May 16, 2020 at UnityPoint Health - Methodist in Peoria. Rick was born on August 24, 1947 in North Pekin to Leland and Betty (Doman) Munson. He married Mary Bohannan on June 18, 1966 in North Pekin. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Ricky Munson; one granddaughter, Aleea Rasmussen; one brother, Russel Munson and one sister, Jackie Harris. He is survived by: his wife, Mary of North Pekin; two daughters, Denise (Barry) Harms and Melissa (Andrew) Rasmussen both of North Pekin; five grandchildren, BJ (Ashton), Jordan (Jarrad), Taylor, Jayla and Jake; three great-grandchildren, Winston, Jett and Jovie; two brothers, Chris Munson of Mackinaw and Jack Burch of Delevan; six sisters, Kay Weber of Peoria, Pam Newman of East Peoria, Linda (Ron) Tuley of Atchison, Kansas, Vicky (Lloyd) Cassidy of North Pekin, Bonnie Munson of Pekin and Betty (Richie) Harris of North Pekin. Rick served in the United State Army. He worked at Hagerty Steel & Aluminum, retiring in 2009. He was a member of Amvets Post 169 in North Pekin. Rick enjoyed hunting and fishing. He treasured the time he spent with his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and anyone who knew him, knows he was quite the jokester. His greatest joy was being a devoted husband, dad and grandpa. The love he shared with everyone who knew him will be greatly missed. Due to Covid-19 current restrictions there will be no public funeral or visitation. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to North Pekin Fire Department or American Red Cross.
