Richard "Rich" S. Lee

Pekin - Richard S. 'Rich' Lee, 80, of Pekin, IL passed away at 6:42 PM Monday, August 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Rich was born on April 26, 1936 in Houston, MN to Roland H. and Selma T. (Furuseth) Lee. He married Cherie S. Quevy on December 19, 1959 in Pekin. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Brennen Lee and one brother, Donald Lee. Surviving are: his wife, Cherie of Pekin; one daughter, Cherise (Norman) Lange of Chandler, AZ; one son, Drew (Amy) Lee of Morton, IL; seven grandchildren, Drew Elizabeth, Ryan and Brenna Windish, Jessica, Casey, Tori and Danielle Lee; one sister, Marilyn Lee of Anacortes, WA. Rich served in the United States Army. He received his Bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University and Master's degree from Illinois State University. While he was at Western he played baseball and was an NAIA All American. Rich was employed by District #108 retiring in 1992 as a Principal. He was also a Journeyman for Operating Engineers Local #649. Rich was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association. He was named Outstanding Educator of the year in 1992. He was an avid golfer. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the First United Presbyterian Church with David Taylor and Deacon Kevin Zeeb officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, Aug. 12 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory and from 9:00 - 9:45 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard "Rich" Lee Memorial Fund. This fund is being established to benefit less fortunate children in the Pekin area and elsewhere.
