Richard O. Kumpf

Richard O. Kumpf, 77, of 2103 Brookview Terrace in Pekin passed away at 4:04 pm Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Pekin Hospital. Richard was born on September 21, 1930 in Tazewell County, Illinois to Otto M. and Helen B. (Pfanz) Kumpf. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Surviving are: two sisters, Marlene (and Richard) Shepler of Pekin and Brenda (and Rudy) Korb of Arkansas; one niece, Judy Spann of Ft. Meyers, FL; three nephews, Kevin Shepler of Pekin, Dennis Shepler of Wellington, FL and Brad Korb of Burbank, CA. Richard was an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years. He also worked as a tax accountant for Fay Childress Accounting in Pekin for five years. Richard was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. He was a Sunday school teacher for the Adult Class and previously taught in the Junior High Class. He was a tutor for Tazewell County Literacy for fifteen years, former treasurer of Christian Civic Outreach for seven years, former treasurer for Friends of the Library and former treasurer of Wonderland Day Care. Richard was a Korean War veteran having served in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 9, 2008 at St. Paul United Church of Christ. The Dwight Borden will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Henderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
