Richard Riley Elkins

Richard 'Dick' Riley Elkins, 82, of Pekin died at 11:10 am Monday, July 5, 2010 at Pekin Hospital. Dick was born in Persia, TN on November 9, 1927 to Ralph and Ethel P. (Stewart) Elkins. He married Virginia Pollock on March 22, 1952 in Pekin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kellie Elkins and one great granddaughter, Amber. Surviving are: his wife, Ginny of Pekin, two sons, Steven (Patricia) Elkins of Madeira, Beach, FL and Kellie Elkins of Pekin; two grandchildren, Marc (Kim) Elkins of Mackinaw, IL and Kimberly Bruno of Mooresville, IN; five great grandchildren Brittney Elkins, Blake Bruno, Michael Knoop, Hannah Elkins and Lesa McDaniel; two great great grandchildren, Robbie and Riker; and his dog, Harry S Truman. He worked for eight years at Caterpillar before going to work at Pekin Hospital for 33 years retiring as Vice President in 1991. Dick was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a member of the Emmanuel Community Church in Pekin, Pekin Moose Lodge #916, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 9543 Rogersville, TN, he was a life and 57 year member of Masonic Lodge 126 AF & AM, 33rd degree Mason and the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer.
