Raymond S. Vermillion

Raymond S. Vermillion, 75, of Pekin passed away at 2:34 AM Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Ray was born on January 15, 1942 in Ash Grove, IL to Earl and Blanch (Farmer) Vermillion. He married Nancy Potter in 1959. She passed away in 1979. He then married Mary Lillie in 1992. She passed away in 2010. Preceding in death are his parents, two sons, Stephen Eugene and David Blair Vermillion, one brother, Jay Winkler and one sister, Imogene Lehman. Surviving are: one son, Mike (Heidi) Vermillion of Pekin; two daughters, Kim (Jeff) Benton of Hanna City, IL and Danene (Wayne Petty) Vermillion-Petty of Manchester, TN; eleven grandchildren, Brandon and Brody Vermillion, Brianna Nelson, Joshua Booher, Austin Petty, Nathan See, Morgan and Logan Vermillion, Drew and Shelby Benton; two brothers, Earl 'Ted' (Marie) Vermillion of Pekin and William (Lily) Vermillion of Morton; one sister, Linda (Bob) Hindahl of East Peoria. Ray was Vietnam War Veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a member of the Roy L. King VFW Post #1232 and was an avid golfer. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Monsignor Timothy Nolan officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
