Raymond Anthony Morris

Raymond A. 'Ray' Morris, 61 of Peoria passed away at 6:08 pm, Monday, April 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Peoria, IL on September 28, 1956 to Raymond A. & Margaret (Righi) Morris. He married Nancy Becker on September 29, 1979 at St. Joseph Church in Pekin, IL. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Judith Fromknecht; one brother-in-law, Harry Higgs; and one nephew, Harry Higgs Jr. Ray is survived by; his wife, Nancy; one daughter, Shelly (Lawrence) Thomas of Wylie, TX; one granddaughter, Olivia Thomas; two sisters, Margie Higgs and Debra (Bill) Kircher; one sister-in-law, Marcia (Rick) Ewing; seven nieces and nephews, Lisa (Randy) Mercer, Trina Coyle, Tim (Vickie) Higgs, Gina (Gary) McGurin, Mia (Clayton) Strand, Beth (Tanner) Miller and Rick (Kelly Cantrell) Ewing and numerous other beloved family members. He worked for the United States Post Office for 25 years as a maintenance supervisor, retiring in 2017. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Ray was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He was also a member of the Chillicothe Sportsman's Club. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motor cycle. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, working on and restoring cars and visiting Shelly, LT and Livi in Texas as an excuse to eat Texas BBQ. He treasured Saturday nights with Nancy, when they would go out to dinner with friends, and then spend the evening playing cards or games. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 303 S. 7th St., Pekin, IL. with Father Michael Andrejek as celebrant. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the church from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with an additional visitation Thursday night from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
