Randall D. Townsend

Randall D. Townsend, 62, of Pekin passed away at 4:45 am Thursday, August 18, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Monday, August 8. Randy was born December 15, 1948 in Watseka, Illinois to David and Georgeina (Ralph) Townsend. He married Susan J. Martin on October 1, 1977 in Peoria, Illinois. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are: his wife, Sue of Pekin; two daughters, Sarah (Brad) Berns of Aurora, IL and Anne Townsend of Makanda, IL; one brother, Doug (Mila) Townsend of Watseka, IL. Randy was employed as a technical writer for Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 years retiring in 2007. He graduated from Southern Illinois University. He was a member of the Illinois Valley Parachute Club, Celestial City Campers, Illinois Valley Wheelmen, Chillicothe Sportsman Club and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin. He enjoyed scuba diving, racing bicycles and sports cars . Randy loved the great out doors and camping, He especially enjoyed taking advantage of the National, State, and local parks. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin. The Rev. Terry Edele and Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm prior to service.
