Phillip Eugene Hill

Phillip E. Hill, 92, of Green Valley passed away at 6:35 am, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria surrounded by family. He was born in Dallas County, MO to Irvin and Leona Fay (McDaniels) Hill on March 9, 1930. He married Mardel Emig on September 14, 1960 in Kansas City, MO. Phil was preceded in death by; his parents; one brother, Dennis Hill; and one sister, Mary Lou Gower. He is survived by; his wife, Mardel; one son, Stephen (Carol) Hill of Chicago; two daughters, Susan (Joseph) McCormick of San Jose and Julie (Steven) Walin of Boise, ID; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister Joan Hoover of Lawrence, KS. Phil was a faithful Christian man who loved his family. He worshiped at the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Pekin. He served in the United States Marine Corps with active duty in Korea. Phil worked in aircraft maintenance for TWA Airlines, Byerly Aviation, McClelland Aviation and others. He and his brother Dennis operated Hill Brothers Aviation at the Pekin Airport. The F.A.A. awarded him the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic award for professionalism, skill, and expertise for at least 50 years in aviation maintenance. He was talented with music, often playing the guitar and singing at area nursing homes. He liked to tinker, and was very mechanically gifted. Phil also enjoyed bird watching. A Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, November 11, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin IL with Pastors Roger Hamilton and Lee Short officiating. A visitation will be one hour before, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
