Peter Strifler

Peter Strifler, 68, of Pekin, IL passed away at 11:50 AM Friday, September 8, 2017 at his home. Peter, son of Karl and Emma Strifler immigrated from Germany to the United States when he was nine. He was born on April 6, 1949. Peter loved to travel, especially in Europe where he learned to appreciate the European diversity of its people and cultures. He taught German and history at Tremont High School, where he coached girls' basketball, was advisor for Student Council and the yearbook. The community also became acquainted with him through ticket selling at all athletic events. He is survived by his numerous students who learned more than 'book' knowledge. He will be missed. A gathering to celebrate Peter's life will be at 4:30 PM Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Tremont High School. Cremation has been accorded.
