Paula E. Dietsche, 72, of Pekin, IL, passed away unexpectedly due to a heart condition at 4:16 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in the Carle Health Pekin Hospital Emergency Room, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on June 22, 1953, in Peoria, IL, to Kenneth and Carol Jean (Romine) Dietsche, Paula grew up with a spirited heart and a compassionate soul. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, who instilled in her a love for life and community.
Paula leaves behind a cherished legacy, survived by her devoted sisters, Carla (George) Henderson of Pekin and Bonnie (Bruce) Sivers of Peoria. She was a proud and loving aunt to her nieces, Christine (Matthew Wiley) Henderson, Julie (Drew) Ranney, and Angie (James) Sneeringer, as well as her nephew, Ryan (Rachel) Garmers; and seven great nieces and nephews. Paula’s warmth and playful spirit left an indelible mark on their lives, as she shared countless moments of laughter and love with her family.
A dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Paula served with kindness and skill in Seattle, Washington and later at Pekin Hospital. Her nurturing nature touched the lives of countless patients, colleagues, and friends, who admired her unwavering commitment to caring for others.
Paula found joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid softball and bowling enthusiast, she brought energy and camaraderie to every game, her competitive spirit matched only by her infectious smile. Above all, Paula cherished evenings spent playing cards with family and friends, where her quick wit and competitiveness shone brightly. Her laughter and storytelling around the card table will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate Paula’s vibrant life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, with Deacon Bob Sondag officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS), 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554, a cause close to Paula’s heart, reflecting her love for animals and her generous spirit.
Paula’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, a testament to a life well-lived and a legacy of kindness that will endure.
