Paul James Weishaar

Pekin - Paul James Weishaar, 72, of Pekin formerly of Peoria died at 1:00 a.m. Sunday, January 25, 2009 peacefully at his home with family by his side. He was born March 13, 1936 in Champaign, IL to Albert and Nellie Stevens Weishaar.He married Corilee Burdett of Peoria.She survives. He is survived by two sons, one daughter, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Son, Joseph (Stephanie) Weishaar of Tremont, IL and their children, Grant and Carlie;Son, Albert (Debbie) Weishaar of Mapleton and their children, Christine and Dusty, grandchildren, Connor and Caitlin; Daughter, Heidi (Mike) Vermillion of Pekin and their children, Nathan, Morgan and Logan. He is also survived by one brother and four sisters, Albert D Weishaar of Urbana, Marie (Gene) Bales of Philo, Berdie Stevens of Watseka, Patsy (Melvin) Norman of Mahomet and Mary (Bob) McCullough of Champaign.He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. He was raised in Champaign, moving to the Peoria area in the late 1960s. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #649 working for several contractors in the Peoria area.He retired in 1998. Paul enjoyed life, especially the outdoors as a hunter and gardener.He was known to family and friends for his good cooking and gardening. Paul was always ready for a conversation, sharing stories and a good joke.He cherished his family and taught them many life skills. He was an Army Veteran who proudly served in the Korean War. He was of the Catholic faith.
